Heel mooi! Gefeliciteerd! I live sinds ‘85 in the NL and according to the history, that winter was one of the (last) heavy, strong ones in the NL. I missed the one of this year January as I wasn’t in the country then but friends and my children, said that it was quite a cold one too.

Enjoy the spring now!😊

(NL) Dankjewel Luz! Ik ontdek op Substack steeds meer Nederlanders. Leuk!!

You could be right about the Winter of 85. That Winter was also ,until now, the last edition of the famous Elfstedetocht… After that year, the winters kept getting milder. This past January, we finally had a few days of good old winter weather with looooots of snow. It immediately caused chaos everywhere, because we’re just not used to it anymore. But I’m not complaining — it was something special to photograph. I’m glad you liked the photos 🙏

Yeah the January snow was quite nice! Especially after those dreary months before :) Nice project! Will download the ebook asap :) Did you also printed it?

I have never been able to use a boost shutter with my digital cameras. It always felt weird to me. It is very nice that you created an e-book from your work. It suddenly turns your pictures into a solid output or project. Good job. 👏

Thanks for your compliment and glad you like it🙏 By the way I rarely use burst mode myself. For this project, with only 36 frames, the goal is actually to slow down. But that might feel a bit unusual for others….😅

I really like this approach, Leon. Your shots seem thoughtfully composed and was really cool to see how this recipe and your photos give off two totally different moods. The indoor shots feel warm and cozy, while the outdoor ones really bring out the cold and that true winter vibe.

Looking forward to the next "roll".

You made it... Welcome to Substack, Isabella! 😊

Thanks for your nice compliment. This project was fun to do! What matters most is slowing down and carefully selecting your 36 digital frames. This recipe will be my go-to for black and white.

Thank you, Leon for the nice welcome! I totally get your excitement - this photography section is a rabbit hole, with so many amazing photos, helpful advice, and interesting posts. It's definitely a place you can lose yourself in.

Your project is intriguing, I wonder if I can find a 2Gb card.

♥️ An alternative could be shooting in RAW. In that case, a card with more space might also suit your needs 😉

Thanks for the idea! I might give it a try, though it's hard to give up the simplicity of shooting in JPEG and not having to edit.

The final e-book is really cool, Leon🙌🏻! I love how it mixes up unexpected details & the kind of everyday beauty that gets easily overlooked when we don't focus on what matters to us most. Great work🖤🤍!
